"Myki is the Victoria/Melbourne public transport ticketing system. Which uses a reusable smart card that can be retained, and cash is loaded onto the card to pay for travel. The Myki card will let you travel on buses, trains, trams, and ferries across Victoria State and mainly Melbourne city."

Where can I buy a myki?

A Myki card can be purchased online and offline.

Step 1:

Form a public purchasing shops like marts, 7-Eleven stores and avenues. OR

You can purchase from any staffed Metro stations, such as Flinders Street and Southern Cross Station, as well as some VLine Stations.

Step 3:

You need to register your myki card in order to load cash digitally.

How do I use my myki ?

You can load money on your card online or by using one of the machines located at every train station and most tram stops. After you load money onto the card, you use the card, simply "touch on" and "touch off" to indicate the length of your journey.

For instance, for train travel, you will touch on at the platform before boarding the train and touch off as you leave the platform of your final destination. For tram and bus travel, you must touch on inside the tram or bus at the start of your journey and touch off before leaving the tram or bus as you alight at your stop.

What types of myki are there and which one is right for me?

There are also 2 different ways to pay for travel: myki Money and myki Pass.

Step 1:

myki Money is good if you use public transport occasionally, as you only need to top up when you want. The first time you "touch on"?, will create a 2-hour fare. If you continue to travel after the 2-hour fare, the daily cap will apply, which is the maximum you?ll pay for unlimited trips in the day. OR

Step 2:

myki Pass You should use myki Pass if you travel regularly and on consecutive days. The one-time payment will cover the amount of days you will travel and the zones you will travel in. You can buy a myki pass for 7 days, or between 28 and 365 days, with the remaining 40 days over 325 being free.

How do I get a myki card on my phone?

myki is available on Android phones. It is like linking your credit or debit card to your phone. Please ensure you meet below minimum requirements in order to set up myki on your Android device.

  1. Ensure you're using Android operating system 5.0 (Lollipop) or higher.
  2. Download Google WalletM and set up a payment card.
  3. You need to have a VISA/Mastercard to use Mobile myki.
